Tensile & flexural tests

Posted on 29 April, 2013 by Christer Löfgren in Laboratory

The flexural and tensile properties of the material are tested by applying a load to test specimens for a given time period. Such testing provides values such as E-module, flexural stress, tensile stress and elongation.

DSC

Posted on 28 April, 2013 by Christer Löfgren in Laboratory

A differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) provides information such as the crystallization temperature of the material, which also provides information about the “condition” of the material.

The Rondo Method

Posted on 25 April, 2013 by Christer Löfgren in The Rondo Method

”Our unique combination of competences gives greater added value. We call it the Rondo Method”

The increased focus on the global environmental situation has, in many ways, changed the outlook of producers and consumers. This has, together with a strong increase in the competitive situation, changed the view concerning raw materials. Among other things, this altered outlook has resulted in a strong interest for recycled plastic raw materials. It has also resulted in a change when it comes to the demands on recycled plastic raw materials.

Today, recycled plastic raw material is used more frequently in highly qualified applications, which places higher demands than ever on recycled plastic raw material. For more demanding applications, a large environmental benefit and an attractive price are not sufficient. Superior technical knowledge is decisive for ensuring that the raw material has a sufficient, necessary and conclusive product quality.

Polykemi and Rondo constitute a winning combination. It’s a matter of different competences that complement and strengthen each other. The way in which we build upon and incorporate these different competences in one and the same customer value chain is unique. Rondo has, with the environment aspect, competence, quality and history, a unique advantage with over 30 years of experience in upgrading and refining recycled plastic raw material. Our parent company Polykemi AB has for more than 40 years, in many ways created a world-leading competence within technical compounding.
Our specific method focuses on our three most important customer values:

Environment, Quality and Cost.

We call it the Rondo Method.

Working at Rondo

Posted on 25 April, 2013 by Christer Löfgren in Rondo

“Those who stop being better, stop being good!”
This is one of the most important sayings that applies to the entire Polykemi group and naturally also to us at Rondo. It is important to us that we continuously evolve in order to give our customers in Sweden and the rest of the world a high technical expertise and degree of service. It is therefore important that we work continuously with improvements and new ideas as a natural part of our operations.

“Our employees are responsible for 70% of our success and technology for 30%!”
Those who create success in our company are the employees – whatever they work with! Each individual employee has the potential to lift the company to success and when the employees in a department cooperate, then we can reach our goal of being a World Class Compounder. This is the force that we want to release, by continuously creating the right conditions for all employees to become involved, give us ideas, and engage themselves in the company’s success.

“Engaged employees need engaged leaders!”
Employee engagement is not something that automatically happens! It requires the right conditions; a favourable climate, good insight into business operations, and participation in important changes and decisions. It is our leaders within the company who can create a good climate for involvement and participation. We have come far with our ambition to develop our leadership based on three basic principles: Engage – Prioritise – Act! Three words that are charged with power, where an entire team is creating ideas, prioritising which projects should be favoured and which changes should be made, and finally implementing these decisions.

Our vision for our personnel

Posted on 25 April, 2013 by Christer Löfgren in Rondo

1) Rondo shall be an attractive employer, where our employees experience a stimulating and evolving work, enjoy good conditions of employment and a safe and secure working environment.

2) Within Rondo, we will value each employee’s unique background and experience.

3) Each employee at Rondo shall feel that they participate and take responsibility for the company’s result.

4) Cooperation between colleagues and departments creates a feeling of togetherness and a better working result.

5) The working environment shall be experienced as safe and stimulating to work in – from a physical, social and psychological perspective.

6) Rondo’s managers shall be good leaders with an ability to enthuse their employees toward good results.

7) In order to give our Swedish and international customers a high technical competence and degree of service, as well as customised solutions, our employees must be prepared for continuous evolvement.

8) Wages and compensation shall be straight forward and fair in order to motivate employees toward continuous evolvement.

9) At Rondo, all employees shall feel secure and be able to question decisions and provide proposals for improvements within all areas.

Our history

Posted on 25 April, 2013 by Christer Löfgren in Rondo

Rondo Plast AB is a wholly-owned daughter company of Polykemi AB with a business concept of providing recycled technical polymers through grinding, quality assurance and regranulation.

The company started business on the 1st of May 1980 at Dragongatan in Ystad, Sweden. Before this, the operations had existed as a department within Polykemi, but the time was now ripe for the operation to function as an own company. However, plastic recycling wasn’t quite so “trendy” then as it is now.

Industrial waste was purchased, sorted and in some cases even cleaned, before it could be granulised, and despite the fact that now almost 40 years has passed, it is still very much a mechanical process today, being a plastic recycler.

To start with, the company handled a lot of polyethylene and polystyrene, but gradually moved over to being a complete plastic recycling company that takes care of all types of plastic. Today the company is one of northern Europe’s most modern plastics recycling companies, when it comes to technical plastics.

Greater customer value.

Posted on 25 April, 2013 by Christer Löfgren in The Rondo Method

”Technical development in combination with our employees creates increased customer value”

Our customer value chain focuses on our three collaborating principles:

Environment – Quality – Cost.

For us at Rondo, the important part is being efficient in order give our customer an advantage. Our operations are therefore constructed so that each part and function in our business is integrated, and this has great significance when it comes to generating a high customer value. Everyone who works at Rondo influences in some way the increased value we deliver to our customers.

We will not in any way ignore the importance of technology in our production. For us it is obvious. In the same way, a properly functioning process is of great importance for increased customer value. But we still dare to say that 70% of our development potential is related to the human factor and 30% to technology – and that is not an exaggeration. In fact it is we humans who choose the type of technology and develop functioning processes. In other words it is our employees who decide our technical level and the performance of our processes. Or one could say our employees are responsible for 100% of our development potential. It may be though unimportant in this context, but in our ambition to be a significant supplier for our customers, it is decisive. For this reason, we wish to raise this basic valuation again, here.

Our ability to supply customer value is strongly related to our ability to pursue development and carry out improvements, which in turn are exclusively to the benefit of an increased customer value. Our strong belief in the future is due to our strong belief in our employee’s evolvement and competence. We know that our common effort can mean much, and also be directly conclusive for you as a customer.
